BYARD, Owen Osburne – Age 91, Guysborough passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 3:36 a.m. He was the son of the late Walter and Sarah (Tynes) Byard. He worked for the Nova Scotia Power Commission cutting trees from power lines. He also worked for the late Ainley Clyke as a woodsman. He devoted his life to his family and friends. He was married to the late Gussie May (Clyke) Byard.
Surviving are daughters, Gail, Guysborough; Janice (Norman), at home; sons, Raymond (Brenda), Guysborough; Douglas (Linda), Sunnyville; Allan (Lisa), Port Hawkesbury; Owen (Alberta), Halifax; Clair (Valerie), Guysborough; brother, Howard Byard, Sunnyville; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, Gussie (Clyke); son, Walter; sisters, Emma, Louise, Florence, Mary and Cora; brothers, Samuel, Joseph, John, Jerry, Archie and Ronnie. The family would like to thank the doctors and homecare for all the wonderful care with dad.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in Sunnyville United Baptist Church and from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Clara Jordan officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough. A reception will follow in the Sunnyville Community Hall. Memorial donations may be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
