Bernard, Peter Alexander "Seven" - Age 61 years of We’koqma’q First Nation passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. It was with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother and Mi’kmaq warrior war chief Seven Bernard. Seven was born in Sydney, on September 25, 1957; he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and loved ones. He was passionate about our aboriginal rights and our traditional ways. Seven had a big heart, despite his large size he was known as a gentle giant with a contagious smile and deep laugh. He leaves behind his children who he loved with all his heart Ginny, Bryan, Nathan, Deven and baby seven; step-children, Braedon, Leon, Drake and Leanne; brother, John Wayne and sisters, Julena and Ducy (Bob) and all his brothers and sisters in the Mi’kmaq warrior society. Grandchildren, Mason, Garrison, Bryson , Carlson, Kaison, Kevin jij, Sara, Kenzie, Serena, Jaxon, baby Bryan, Enzo and Maya; godchildren, Hazlee, Amy, Dylan, Fred, Rene, Silipai and Carlee and many nieces and nephews. Seven will be deeply missed by all. He is predeceased by his loving family who he reunited with in the spirit world his parents, Annie Mae (Sylliboy) and Charles Bernard; brothers, Fred, Lawrence "Lunch", Walter, Alan and Charles "Chucky" and Carl David and his grandfather, Grand Chief Gabriel Sylliboy whom he admired and which led him to advocate for our aboriginal rights. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 2 in the Multi Purpose Building, 160 Reservation Road, We’koqma’q First Nation and from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 4 at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
