PARKER, Redvers Basil "Reg" -Age 85, of Canso. Passed away peacefully Sunday, January 27, 2019, at home. Born in Canso on December 16, 1933, he was a son of the late Basil Anthony Parker and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Parker. In the 1950’s he served in the Black Watch and later worked at Fruehauf Trailers in Ontario as a material handler. During his retirement years, he spent his time puttering around the yard repairing and building things and tending his garden or just hanging outside with the family pup in the sun. Reg is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Margaret (Ryan) Parker, his only son David Stephen Parker and wife Roberta (Ring) Parker, his brothers Ernie (Loretta) and Frank (Cathy), his sisters, Mable Dort, Marge Hamer, Rita Johnson, Jean (Ernest) Jensen, his granddaughter, Sarah Parker; grandson, Shaun Parker, step grandson, Stephen Seaman, his 5 great grandchildren, Michaela, Morgan, Marshall, Sebastian, and Cassidy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, James and Mike; sisters, Geraldine (Horne), Eva (Gordon) and Bertha (Baker). Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Nnajiofor officiating. Burial immediately following in the Star of the Sea Parish Cemetery, Canso. Reception to follow in the Canso Lions Club.
