Obituary
Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Marie Theresa MacMaster of Boylston, on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Marie was born in Boston, Mass. on October 17, 1930. She moved to Boylston with her family three years later. Marie's purpose in life seemed to be to look after others, taking care of her mother as a young lady, then staying home to tend to her father, while also caring for Jessie Sceles. Marie was well known in the community of Boylston. It was not unusual to see her walking to the post office or on the road to her sister Jean's home, not once, but sometimes two or three times a day. She started curling and continued for 50 years. Marie was one of Chedabucto Curling Club's first members. She could also be seen on her ride on mower cutting her grass or riding it to her sister Jean's for storage. Marie also was a member of the Guysborough Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed talking to guests at the hospital teas and, of course, partaking in a cup or two herself. In her later years, she would spend Christmas in Halifax with her sister Ginny and her family. Although one would never know her absolute plan until she was ready to tell you, always saying "well, I'll see". Marie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her father, John "Jack" MacMaster, mother, Eleanor MacMaster (O'Connor), and her sisters, Jean Fisher, Jean's husband Ken, and Virginia Doucet. She is survived by her brother-in-law, George Doucet and nieces and nephews, Ellen Cox (John), Dennis Doucet (Colleen), Brian Doucet (Karin), and Carla Guest (Jeff). Also mourning Marie are her great nieces and nephews, Jacqueline Cox, Katie Fairweather (Michael), Jack and Ian Doucet, Reilly and Thomas Doucet and Connor, Owen and Lauren Guest. She also leaves behind two great-great-nieces Rosetta and Harper Fairweather. Visitation will be held Monday, June 3, 2019, from 4 - 8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home Guysborough. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 11 a.m. from St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough, with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. In the spirit of Marie's life-long giving: a donation can be made in her name to a charity of choice.
