Batherson, Flora Mae – Troy/Judique. It is with great sadness that her family wishes to announce that Flora Mae (MacDonald) Batherson joined her beloved Sam in Heaven on Thursday, June 6th, 2019. Flora Mae, who celebrated her 99th birthday on May 27th, passed away joyful and peacefully. Flora was a daughter of Catherine (Katie) MacDonald and Johnnie Ronald MacDonald, Shore Road, Judique North. She is survived by her dear friends, sister-in-law, Mary Jane Mac Donald and brother-in-law, Richard Felix. Nephews, Joseph (Danielle) Mac Donald, Albert Mask, Gerald, Michael and Rick Felix, nieces Cathy Hastings and Delores Vandenberg, and Batherson nephews, Malcolm (Kay), Danny (Helen) , Kevin (Ellen) and Roy "Matt Minglewood" (Barbara), John (Angela) and Gerry Crowley. Flora is also survived by many loving grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Flora Mae was a devout, kind and generous woman. She and Sam spent many years willingly caring for her mother and mother-in-law at home in Harbourview and Troy. Over the years Flora Mae was a member of the Judique, Port Hood and Creignish CWL. She was also a member of the Evergreen Seniors Club. Flora Maeʼs hospitality was enjoyed by many friends and family especially in summer. One never left her house without being served tea which always included her delicious biscuits and molasses cookies. Flora Maeʼs love for her nieces and nephews was extended to all children especially the neighbourhood children who loved her. The first stop after getting off the school bus was most often Flora Maeʼs for a cookie, biscuit or even a game of cards. Besides her husband, Sam and her parents Flora Mae was predeceased by her brothers, Archie and Ronald Joseph; sisters, Mary (Leo) Mask, Florence Felix and sister-in-law, Jessie Mae Gillis, nephew, Gerald Mask. The family would like to thank the amazing staff who cared for Flora Mae at Richmond Villa and all the friends that supported her over the years. Flora Mae greatly appreciated your many acts of kindness. Visitation for the late Flora Mae Batherson will be held Thursday, June 13th from 2-4 and 6–8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held Friday, June 14 at 11 a.m. from St. Andrewʼs Roman Catholic Church, Judique with Father Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
