ISABELL JEAN MACDONNELL February 10, 1931 - July 6, 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing after a brief illness, of Isabell Jean MacDonnell of Kempt Road, Richmond County, Cape Breton on Saturday, July 6, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish surrounded in love by her children and brother. Born February 10, 1931 in Balmoral, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late John Alex MacDonnell and Mabel (MacRae) MacDonnell. She is survived by her 10 children: Sandra (Phil) Bonin, Mary (Bob) Jarbek, Ralston (Charlene) MacDonnell, Karen (Albert) Stewart, Anna (Pat) Leahy, Lewis (Susan) MacDonnell, John (Gloria) MacDonnell, Duncan (Debbie) MacDonnell, Scott (Sherry) MacDonnell, Kendra MacDonnell; 20 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. She is survived by siblings: Ethel (Paul) Garland, Annie (Barrie) Reid, Ralph MacDonnell, Duncan (Nancy) MacDonnell and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Lewis MacKenna; three children; Ricky, Darrell and Rita; Brothers, James, Dan, John, Edward; Sisters, Kaye MacDougall, Elsie Buchanan, and infant sisters Elizabeth and Mary. Isabell was a devoted mother and grandmother and friend to many and will be missed by all. By her request a Graveside service only will be on Saturday July 13 at 2:00p.m. in Grand Anse Cemetery. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the Strait Richmond and St. Martha’s Hospital for her care and comfort. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Isabell’s name to either of these hospitals or a charity of your choice.
