Inez Evelyn (Coates) Smith - 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s, Nova Scotia with her family by her side. Inez was born on February 29, 1924 in Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Inez was the daughter of Francis "Frank" and Ida (Myers) Coates. Inez was predeceased by her parents; her husband Robert "Bob" (1983); sisters: Sarah (in infancy), Annie, Stella, Mabel and Ida; and by brothers: Wilfred, George, James "Jim", Leonard "Len", Robert, Edward "Ed" and Myron "Bud". Inez is survived by her brother Allen Coates, Vancouver, BC and by children: Robert "Bob" (Gladys) Smith, Sherwood Park, Alberta; Irene (Peter Beddington) Judiesch, Kamloops, BC; Val (Norma) Smith, St. Peter’s, NS; Dorianne (Dale) Moores, Barriere, BC; Laurelli (Carman) Kobe, Kamloops, BC; and Laurel Smith, Kamloops, BC and by grandchildren Annette, Scott, Ron, Casey, PJ, Frank, Jenny, Lily, Joseph, Nicky, Trish, Philip, Mitch, Robert J. and Piper; along with many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Inez lived in Surrey & Chase in BC where she and her husband, Bob, raised their family. She moved to Cape Breton, NS in 1996 at the age of 72. You could often find Inez working in her gardens, solving Sudoku puzzles, playing solitaire, watching her favourite tv shows, knitting or on-line catching up with family and friends throughout Canada. She loved her trips out West to attend the large family reunions. Inez was tiny in stature but was a very hard working woman and she loved her family dearly. She was a very kind person who put others’ needs before her own.The family would like to thank Dr. Collins and all the staff for the exceptional care she received at the Richmond Villa which was her home for the past year and a half; also, the family would like to thank Homecare Support for their exceptional care she received while living at home. In keeping with Inez’s wishes there will be no visitation. Burial will take place in May 2020 at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Surrey, BC.
