Obituary
Please share a memory of Dugald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MacKILLOP, Dugald MacLachlan – West Bay a resident of Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in his 89th year. Dugald was born on August 17, 1930 in West Bay Center.
He was the son of the late John Henry and Helen (MacLachlan) MacKillop. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his twin brother, Donald; brothers, Graham and Jackie. Dugald is survived by his only sister, Catherine Skinner; five nieces, one nephew and their children and grandchildren.
Dugald was an avid Toronto fan, both Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, but boxing was his real passion. He watched matches and enjoyed his boxing magazines until his eyesight failed him…then he listened. Scottish music was always playing at his bedside while he tapped along to the tunes.
In his younger years, Dugald found work on the power line and with surveying crews. He was a small, kind and generous man who was able to shoulder a big day’s work.
The staff at Richmond Villa provided Dugald with his home for the past 3 ½ years. He received excellent care, many laughs and was treated like family.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 29 from Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury with Pastor Keith Wiseman officiating. A reception will follow. Burial will be in the West Bay Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Richmond Villa Recreation Dept., West Bay United Church or to the West Bay Cemetery Fund. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at:www.haverstocks.com
