Wheaton, Albert Edward- February 9, 1944 – April 22, 2020 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Albert Edward Wheaton, a beloved husband, father, nephew, cousin, brother, son in law and grandfather which occurred in the Inverary Manor, Inverness County, on April 22, 2020. Born on February 9, 1944, Albert was the son of the late Bessie Morash of Point Tupper, Richmond County. Albert was a parts manager at the Old Canadian Tire in Port Hastings, for 25 years. He loved his job and working with the public. Most people knew of Albert from working there and seeing him out and about with his wife Irene, which he spent 90% of his time with. After he left Canadian Tire, he went to work at the wallboard plant in Point Tupper, and Louisiana Pacific until 2002. Then he hesitantly went to work (at Irene’s request ha ha) at the crab plant in Aulds Cove until 2009 when he said he was done working and wanted to relax. Dad had many cousins, uncles and aunts he loved to see when we would all go to Maine and camp during the summer months in the 70’s to the late 90’s. Albert loved going for long drives and he loved camping and simple things like having his morning coffee while reading the paper and checking the stocks on the internet he had investments in, mowing the lawn, talking to the neighbor’s and going for weekly coffee dates in Aulds Cove with his wife Irene and their good friends and camping companions Gerard and Jane Marchand. In recent years up until his illness he enjoyed having his only grandson Kaden and played and laughed with him a lot. Dad also was a sort of taxi for his wife and daughter during times of illness. A lifelong member of St. David’s Church, Port Hastings. He was an elder and used to occasionally help with meetings, dinners, events and communion. Albert is survived by his only daughter, Lindsay, Dartmouth; his only grandson Kaden, Dartmouth; sisters, Rita, Port Hawkesbury and Anita "Nita", Sydney. Albert was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Irene, his mother, Bessie and his mother in law, Rose Davis. As per Albert’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at 3p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from St. David’s United Church Cemetery, Port Hastings with Pastor Maggie Plant officiating. Memorial donations in Albert’s memory may be made to the Dementia Alzheimer’s Society or to St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings.
