Hamer, Marjorie Carol ‘Marge’ - Age 79 of Canso, Guysborough Co. Passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 in Camp Hill, Veterans Memorial Building, QE11, Halifax. Born on June 17, 1940 in Canso, she was a daughter of the late Basil Anthony and Margaret Irene (Fitzgerald) Parker.
Surviving are her sons, Michael (Jeannie), Stephen (Trish), Ronald (Joan), Richard (Carolyn) ;9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernie (Loretta), Frank (Cathy); sisters, Mable, Rita, Jeannie (Ernie). Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Robert Hamer; sisters, Geraldine, Bertha, Eva, brothers, Jim, Reg and Mike; also, her partner Moe Kiley.
Marge was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 46, Canso, she was also a member of the Star of the Sea Parish, Canso. She worked for numerous years looking after the elderly. Marge loved to bake and cook and volunteer. She loved her music and played her accordion. Marge will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the Veterans Memorial Bldg., and also to the Halifax infirmary that were involved in Marjorie’s care. Special thank you to the doctors closing the gap and VON nurses for their care and comfort and compassion shown to Marjorie.
A memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 46, Canso. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
