Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
LEBLANC, Joseph "Rene" – of Whitehead, Guysborough County. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a loving husband, dad, grandad, great-grandad and brother Rene. He passed away surrounded by the love of his children at the age of 85 on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital, Guysborough.
Born on December 28, 1936 in Cap Pele, NB, he was a son of the late Camille & Louise (Gautreau) LeBlanc. As the eldest of 5 children, Rene helped support his family after the loss of his father in a logging accident. He was a hard worker from a young age and later joined the military. While enlisted, his good friend Doug introduced him to the love of his life – Leona Grover. They married in 1956 and together raised 4 children. Needing to support his growing family, Rene left the military and headed to Ontario for better job opportunities. The family stayed there for a few years, until 1970 when they moved back home to Whitehead.
Rene is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Leona (Grover); children, Betty (Billy) of Trenton; Rene (Brenda) of Hazel Hill; George (Chrissy) of Whitehead and Debbie (Billy) of Little Dover; and youngest brother, David (Debbie) of Ontario. Grandchildren; Christopher, Dana, Amie, Michael, Micheal, George & Carla; great-grandchildren; Liam, Luke, Maddox, Avery, Aurora, Brayden & Benjamin.
Besides his parents, Rene was predeceased by brothers, Eloi, Aime, twins in infancy Joe & Donald, sister, Joanne and step-father, Frank Hennigar.
