AVERY, (Fraser) Mary Catherine ? 82, Halifax, passed away October 12, 2004 in the QE2 Hospital. Born in Port Hood, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Mary (Tompkins) Fraser. As a Third Order Franciscan, Catherine lived out the gospel message every day of her life while raising her nine children. Catherine was an active, life-long member of St. Peter's Parish in Port Hood, member of the CWL, church choir and lector of the word. Her living faith has touched many lives. She was a former teacher with great compassion and the ability to facilitate learning in people with special needs. Surviving are her husband, Callis; sons, Mike (Cathy), Lower Sackville; Dan (Angela), New Glasgow; Donnie (Judy), Lawrencetown; Leonard (Jane), Cole Harbour; daughters; Susan MacDougall (Brian), Windsor, ON; Anita Dwyer (Kenny), Cambridge, ON; Margaret Rose Avery Lynch (Rick), Peterborough, ON; Mary Ida Hanna (Garth), Beamsville, ON; Loretta MacDonald (Brian), Hammonds Plains; Brother, Donald Fraser (Ellen), Port Hood; Twenty seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Alex Fraser. Visitation 7-9pm Thurs, Oct 14th, 2-4 & 7-9pm Fri, Oct 15th, in the funeral home, Port Hood, Funeral Mass 11:00am Sat, Oct 16th in St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, Port Hood. Fr. Charles Cameron officiating, Burial to follow in St. Peters Cemetery, Port Hood. Flowers are welcome; Donations may also be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
