AUSTIN, Irene -87, Whycocomagh, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at home. Born in Boston, Mass., she was a daughter of the late John Archie MacKinnon and Annie Mac Lellan. Irene was a member of Stewart United Church and U.C.W., Whycocomagh, Gordon Mac Leod Chapter Eastern Star #37 and Bayview Seniors Club. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing cards, baking and until a few years ago, making big Sunday suppers for the family. Irene was always very happy when her great-granddaughters would come for a visit. There was always treats for the girls at "Nanny’s House". She is survived by daughter, Sharon Delaney, Whycocomagh; son, Vernon Austin, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren Karl, Scott, Shannon, Erin, Lyle; five very special great-grandchildren, Taryn, Jordan, Cameron, Brynn and Kendall; sisters-in-law, Mary Matheson, Lee Landmyer, both of Sydney; Annie (Donald) Mac Kenzie, Blind River, ON.; Ingie (John) Gillis, Amherst; brother-in-law, Karlson Austin, Whycocomagh; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Jr. and sister Agnes Gillis. The family would like to express their thanks to a very special neighbor, Jessie Ann Mac Kinnon for all she has done during this difficult time. Visitation will be 2-9p.m. Monday, with an Eastern Star Service at 7p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 2p.m. Tuesday at Stewart United Church with Rev.
