ARMSWORTHY, Ruth Elizabeth Age 86, Little Dover, Guysborough County passed away peacefully with her loving daughter Loretta by her side on Monday May 26, 2014 in High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care.
Born in Little Dover, she was a daughter of the late James Bloomfield and Mary Helena (Fougere) Grant. Ruth loved playing Bingo, cards and crocheted and knitted like a machine. Everyone in the family has something made by Aunt Ruth. She spent most of her life caring for her daughter, parents and extended family and friends. Ruth will be remembered as a dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother and the best Aunt ever. She will be missed and forever loved by many. Ruth fought an extended battle with cancer, the same way she lived her life, stubbornly, obstinately, and in the end peaceful, calm and dignified.
She is survived by daughter, Loretta(Gregor) Lambourne, Port Hilford; her only grandson whom she loved dearly, Lyle(Marsha) Barron, Country Harbour; great-grandson Spencer & step great granddaughter Brittany, She was Nanny Ruth to the Lambourne & Armsworthy families; stepsons, Adrian(Mary Isabel) Armsworthy, Bible Hill; Seward Armsworthy, Truro; Eric(Marg) Armsworthy, John(Meg) Armsworthy and Finlay (Irene) Armsworthy all of Canso; David(Cheryl) Armsworthy, Red Deer, Alberta; stepdaughter, Patricia(Jim) Grant, Charlottetown, PEI; dearly loved by all her many nieces, nephews, grand nephews and grandnieces in the Armsworthy, Grant & Feltmate families. She was predeceased by her first husband, Philip Kaiser, second husband, Albert Armsworthy; stepdaughter, Dolly Taylor; brother, James Douglas Grant and sister, Mary Edith Feltmate.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:30 pm in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Little Dover with Rev. Dan MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations may be made to High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care or St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke.
