It is with broken hearts that we must announce the passing of John "Calvin" Munro, 75, of Whycocomagh. Calvin passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 18th, 2022. Calvin will be forever missed by his wife of 51 years, Jean (Matheson), along with his sons James (Andrew), Halifax and Blair, Whycocomagh. Calvin is survived by his brothers, Gordie (Isabel) Munro and Jerry (Elsie) Munro; sisters-in-law, Nelly Munro and Cathy Matheson. Calvin was predeceased by his parents, George and Gladys Munro; brother, Graham Munro; father-in-law, Cameron Matheson; mother-in-law, Winnie Matheson; and brother-in-law, Jim Matheson. Calvin was employed by the pulp and paper mill in Point Tupper, N.S for 32 years as a mill operator. He found great joy chatting with old colleagues, family and friends. Calvin loved Cape Breton Island and was content, never leaving. A special thank you to Doctor Tribo, as well as Calvin’s previous doctor, Carlyle Chow, the palliative care team and all of the staff at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital for their exemplary care. There will be no visitation or funeral as per Calvin’s wishes. A family graveside service will take place at a later date Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Donations may be made to the Little Narrows Cemetery Fund or to the Victoria County Memorial Hospital Foundation. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
