Obituary of Gavin Alexander Michael

Please share a memory of Gavin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

MICHAEL, Gavin Alexander - With broken hearts we sadly announce the passing of our son, brother, nephew and friend, Gavin Alexander Michael age 21 years of Wagmatcook First Nation. Gavin passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in the Halifax Infirmary. He was born in St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish. He was the youngest son of Juanita Pierro and the late Lester Michael.

Gavin is survived by his mom, Juanita Pierro (Daniel Levi Paul), brothers, Stanley Michael, Wilfred "Wil" Michael (Claudia Pierrard), Parnell Michael and brother by choice, Dallas Peck. He is also survived by his grandmother, Rita Pierro, godchildren, Kyla Googoo and Bryan Roberts, godmother, Veronica Jeddore and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He graduated from Wagmatcookewey School and served as one of the youth council members during his time in school. Gavin was loved by everyone at the school. After he finished high school, he went to NSCC to take his MED course. He was employed as a deckhand for the Jake Jake Boat with the Wagmatcook Band. He was such a dedicated fisherman. He loved his rubber boots, he would wear his boots throughout the year. If anyone were to look for Gavin, the best place to find him was near the shoreline or the wharf.

He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, fishing and hunting, hockey (his favorite the Pittsburgh Penguins), basketball, baseball (his team were The Angels), watching UFC, he loved to make friends from everywhere, he was such an adventurous person and driving around with family and friends.

Gavin was a kind hearted young man who loved his family and friends so dearly. His contagious smile would brighten a dull room like a ray of sunshine when he entered. He had a great sense of humour and loved to joke around. He was always happy and very cheerful. He was a very respectable young man who would never tell anyone "no" and was always there to lend a helping hand. Everyone knew Gavin Alexander Michael as the "Gentle Giant". Gavin will be greatly missed by his friends, co-workers, ball players, hockey players and most of all by his loving family. We will love and miss you forever our big baby boy!

Along with his father, Gavin was predeceased by his grandparents, Peter Pierro, Wilfred Michael and Dorothy Michael; aunts, Victoria Campbell, Mary Janet Isadore, Bernadette Young, uncles, Allison Pierro, Stanley Pierro, Joseph "Joe" Peck, Alexander Michael, Clarence Michael; godfather, John Andrew Simon; cousin, Joshua Peck.
