It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved dad, Jerry Pierce, 56, on Friday, August 28th, 2026.

Jerry was born on February 28th, 1970, and grew up in Samson’s Cove, where some of his earliest memories were made fishing alongside his father, Wilson, and his brothers. He was the son of Yvonne Pierce and the late Wilson Pierce.

Over the years, Jerry had many jobs that took him all over the world. He was proud of his work with The Coopers and the friendships he made along the way. He held a deep appreciation for his colleagues and work family at Savage Services. Dad had a wide range of skills, and there was nothing he wouldn’t tackle. He was hardworking, resourceful, and always willing to figure things out and get the job started.

Jerry lived life with a big heart, a strong work ethic, and a personality that could never go unnoticed. He was often the loudest person in the room, and even if you couldn’t see him, chances were you could hear him. He was known for his grand entrances, persistent phone calls, and his unmistakable way of throwing up his eight fingers. He loved to laugh, joke around, and keep those around him laughing too.

Jerry was always honest and never afraid to tell you exactly what he thought, sometimes perhaps a little more honestly than you asked for. He had a strong personality and could certainly be a handful at times, but those who truly knew him understood that there was so much more beneath the surface. If Jerry found his way into your life, he earned a permanent place in your heart.

Jerry was generous, fiercely loyal, and would go out of his way to help anyone who needed him. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, although sometimes he may not have been wearing one in the first place.

Together, Jerry and Wendy raised their family and built a home where the door was always open to family and friends, a place filled with laughter, fun, and countless memories. Our childhood home was a true reflection of who Jerry was: there was always room for one more, and no one was ever made to feel like a stranger. It was a place where people gathered, shared in life’s moments, and felt a true sense of family and belonging.

Some of the best memories were made simply by spending time together, having a few beers, telling stories, laughing, and occasionally trying their luck at the slot machines. He had a way of making ordinary moments memorable.

Jerry loved being outdoors and was happiest when he was doing something. He had a lifelong passion for collecting. Dad loved his toys, whether they were big, small, new, old, or rescued from a yard sale and proudly declared an “antique.” To Dad, everything was a treasure and undoubtedly worth a fortune. It didn’t matter if an “antique” was worth five cents to anyone else; if he liked it, it was worth a million dollars.

Jerry’s greatest treasures, however, were those he loved.

He leaves behind his three children, Jenna, Taylor (Gracie), and Madison. His greatest legacy will live on through the qualities he passed down and the memories he created with each of them.

Jerry shared a special bond with his favourite little buddy, Mattias, who was so much like him in all the best ways, full of personality, humour, and confidence. Jerry took great pride in their relationship, and the two brought so much joy to each other’s lives.

Jerry is survived by his loving children, Jenna, Taylor, and Madison; his mother, Yvonne Pierce; his siblings Tony (Judy), Melvin (Connie), Robert, Mike (Cindy), Wanda (Tim), and Frances (Noah); along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A special mention must go to “Brother Rob,” who was not only his brother but also his lifelong best friend. Their bond was truly special and built over a lifetime of shared adventures, laughter, and unwavering friendship. Robert undoubtedly made Jerry a better man, and the memories they made together will be cherished forever.

Jerry will also be deeply missed by his dear friend Brian Maltby, who shared many years of friendship, laughter, and good times with him.

Jerry was predeceased by his father, Wilson Pierce, as well as Deseray Boudreau and Mary Norma Boudreau. Aunt Norma and Uncle Jer were like second parents to him and played a special role in his life.

Rest easy, Dad. You were one of a kind. We love you, and you will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Friday, September 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 5 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Joby Augustin officiating.
