The family would like to share the passing of James (Jim) Allie Talbot on August 30th, 2026. Jim passed away peacefully at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by his family. Jim was born on February 27, 1953 at the Halifax Infirmary and was the son of Jess & Gus Talbot. He grew up in Pictou, N.S. and later settled in Port Hasting with his family in 1984. 

In his youth, Jim enjoyed swimming, playing hockey and had many adventures with his Pictou friends and family. After graduating from Pictou Academy he went on to UCCB in Sydney and studied Geology. From there, he was accepted into the RCMP and attended depot in Regina. He was posted in Amherst, Tatamagouche, Truro and lastly, Port Hawkesbury.  

Jim was a dedicated member and retired after 30 years of service. Throughout his career, he served in many policing roles such as Frontline, RCMP Dive Team member, Highway Patrol, Tactical Troop member, and the Migratory Birds Section. He was also a proud member of the RCMP hockey league. 

Outside of work, Jim was a member of the Strait Pirate's Old Timers hockey team, he enjoyed playing tunes on his guitar, hunting, playing baseball, tennis and golfing with his friends. After retirement, Jim took a keen interest in woodworking. He spent many hours crafting a variety of wonderful pieces for family and friends - items we are fortunate to have today. Jim was an excellent cook and a master on the grill. He loved hanging out with his friends in the shop, making wings, having drinks and sharing stories. 

Jim's life was celebrated with his loving wife Marilyn. Marilyn supported Jim through his career in the RCMP and continued to support and care for Jim through all of their adventures and challenges together. Although Jim was faced with many medical issues in his later years, he preserved through everything to stay with his family. Jim & Marilyn built a wonderful family and life together. Jim was a loving and devoted father to Mark, Kim & Cheryl. They travelled various places with family & friends while creating many memories and traditions throughout the years. Jim loved spending his time with his kids & grandchildren and watching them grow and experience life. 

Jim is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Hines); son Mark; daughters Kim (Ian) and Cheryl (Scott); Grandchildren Ben, Ellie, Max, Ethan Lucy & Lane; Siblings, twin brother Dan, sisters Jane (Matt) and Pat. He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Jess Talbot. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, Sept. 4th, 2026 at the Port Hawkesbury Legion Branch #43 from 2:00-5:00pm. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations may be made in Jim's honor to Parkinson's Canada - Atlantic office , St. Richmond's Emergency Department and/or St. Martha's Regional Hospital ICU and PICU.
