Agnes Elizabeth McDougall (Kennedy) - 98 of Port Hawkesbury, N.S. passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, at Richmond Villa in St. Peters. Born in Louisbourg on January 29th, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Kennedy. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was pre-deceased by her husband Leo and her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann McDougall.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Glenn) Lewis; sons, Ronald, Brian and Steven (Elizabeth); thirteen Grandchildren, Dawn Marie, Chris (Karen), Elliott (Geeta), Richard (Jill), Scott (Cici), Ashley, Shawn (Kaley-Lynn), Danielle (Curtis) Perran, Brian Tyler (Atila), Brendan, John (Stacey), Nancy (Moudy) Nasser El Ddine and Eric (Hailey); eighteen great-grandchildren, Coralie, Maci, Finley, Ivar, Jesse, Logan, Austin, Summer, Shiva, Quinn, Blakely, Colt, Jimmy, Nathan, Leo, Jack, Charlie and baby Lucia who arrived just in time to briefly share the earth with Mimmy.

Her strength and courage are legendary. Her “Mimmy wisdom” was unforgettable. Her faith unwavering and her wit which was sharp, warm, and perfectly timed, carried us through more moments than we can count.

She taught us to pray when we were worried, laugh when we were tired, and stand tall even when life tried to shrink us. She could make a feast out of nothing, a lesson out of anything, and a friend out of anyone.

Though she has left this earth, her words, love, and humor will echo through every branch of the family tree which she nurtured.

The family would like to thank the staff of Richmond Villa in St Peter’s for the care and compassion they have shown to both our mother and father over the years.

Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8p.m. on Tuesday, August 11th, at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12th from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Joby Agustin officiating. A reception will follow the burial in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Port Hawkesbury Food Bank or the St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund.
