Goldie Mae Winnifred (Crooks) Simpson

Age 101 Years

It is with mixed emotions we announce the passing of our mom. Goldie Mae Winnifred (Crooks) Simpson. Born on June 26, 1925 in New Harbour.

Mom moved to Coddles Harbour with Dad and Mom when she was two. She lived there until she married Clarence Buckley Simpson on September 25, 1948.

Boylston and beautiful Broad Cove remained her homestead until she moved to the Milford Haven Nursing Home in May 2022. Mom had a strong will and did things her way. In her younger years she taught school then went on to Nursing School. Mom worked at the old Guysborough Hospital a short time before marrying dad. Mom was a life-long member of the U.C.W. and Boylston Curling Club.

On her 101st birthday, June 26, my last words to my mom were “Mom, you did well, I do love you and if you wish, go be with dad tonight, that’s ok.

But once again mom proved her strength and will and waited two more nights. In life, in death, mom did it her way.

I hope when mom meets dad he is not tending cows, if so she will huff, roll her eyes and say “I hate those damn things.” Rest Easy Mom, Love, Peter and Shauneth.

At mom’s request, there will be no wake or funeral. Private family burial at a later date.
