Keith Michael Wilmot Obituary

Keith Michael Wilmot, 50, of We’koqma’q, passed away on March 26, 2026. Born on April 23, 1975, Keith was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched who knew him.

Keith is lovingly remembered by his husband, Koko (Dean Pelletier); his mother, Wanda Phillips; and his stepfather, Roderick Phillips (Ida). He is also survived by his brother, Derek Wilmot; Christian (Monk) Phillips (Emma): his sisters, Charlene Paul and Lesley Googoo-Clarke, His brother by choice Doug Waters; His sisters by choice, Marcia Gould (Chad) and Racheal Julian of Eskasoni. He will be deeply missed by his goddaughters, Jasmine Bernard and Heaven Googoo, as well as his aunts Deborah Bernard, Danita Googoo, Darlene Googoo, and Doreen Googoo-Emrey (Roy), along with many cousins, nieces and nephews from We’koqma’q.

Keith was predeceased by his brother in infancy, Michael; and his grandparents Pearl and Gabriel, kiju aqq Tata and Aunt Clare Phillips.

A true jack of all trades, Keith worked as a CCA and home support worker in his younger years and later became a fisherman. He was a graduate of TEC and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.

Keith had a deep connection to the land and carried a gift for gardening, inheriting a green thumb like his kiju. He enjoyed crafting, baking, and roller skating, and found peace in traditional medicine picking—especially sweetgrass. Summers often found him canoeing and embracing the outdoors. He had a special love for animals, especially his dogs and cats, including his cherished cat.

Keith had a rare and beautiful gift—he brought light into every room he entered. Always ready to help, he was known as one of the kindest souls, someone who would give the shirt off his back without hesitation. His warmth, generosity, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Keith will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
