Alice Dorothy Hanlon

1933 – 2026

 Alice Dorothy (Dixon) age 93 New Glasgow, formerly of Canso. Alice passed peacefully on March 7th, with her daughter Margie by her side. She was born February 17th, 1933 in Fox Island, Guys Co, N.S. She was the daughter of the late Frank Edward Dixon and Margaret Mable (Rhynold) Dixon. She spent most of her life in Canso. Alice worked at the Canso lobster hatchery, Canso fish plant and the VG in Halifax in the laundry. Alice loved playing bingo, wearing her sparkles and bling, was a regular church goer and was a very active member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 46 until she was placed into the nursing home in 2019. Her passion in later years was her Grandchildren who she loved dearly.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Lumsden) Greencorn (Paul); Canso, biological son, Fredrick Horne; Canso; grandsons, Skyler Greencorn (Jayne), Ellershouse; Chayne Greencorn (Brittany), Halifax; Brandon Greencorn (Katelyn), Truro; biological granddaughter, Heidi Johnson (Katie), Fort MacMurray; great-grandson, William Greencorn and great-granddaughter, Isabelle Greencorn. Alice is also survived by her brother, Shipley (Babe) Dixon (Sandra), Canso, along with her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Husband, Thomas Hanlon, Canso; her parents; sister, Hannah Hart; brothers, William, Berkley, Frank; half-brother’s, Colin Hendsbee and Emmett Dixon.

Sending out many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Glen Haven Nursing Home who went above and beyond to provide the best of care for Alice. They most certainly made her part of the Glen Haven family. Cremation has taken place. As per Alice’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
