Charles J. Ryan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Charlie Jerome Ryan, 92 on Port Hawkesbury, NS, on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at Strait Richmond Hospital.

Charlie leaves behind his children, Charles (Faye), East Noel, David (Fabienne), Port Hawkesbury, Ricky, Port Hawkesbury, Veronica (Bill), Alberta, Clark (Marlene), Port Hawkesbury. He leaves behind 10 loving grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Also left behind are his brothers, Hubert, Ken (Helen), Mikey (Shelma), Edward (Peggy); sisters, Rita, Jean (George), Adeline, Diane (Jack), Marie.

Charlie was predeceased by his wife Sadie (Reynolds) of 70 years; parents, James and Georgina (LeBlanc) Ryan; brothers, Melvin, Phonse, Michael, Lonnie; sisters, Betty, Edwina, Mae.

Charlie was a very devoted, loving husband and father. He had a strong work ethic, always providing for his loving family. He was employed at Nova Scotia Forest Industries for 31+ years, where he was Plant Protection. His faith was strong and never wavered even in his final days.

He enjoyed playing cards with friends and jam sessions with family in his younger years. He became very involved in harness racing where he would travel to many racetracks to hear the thunder of the hooves on the track. His love for family was foundational, unconditional, providing a secure base and sense of belonging. When spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he enjoyed watching how they interacted, with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes.

Visitation will take place at Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury on February 15th, 2026, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral will be held at St. Joseph’s Parish in Port Hawkesbury on February 16th at 2 p.m. CWL reception to follow after downstairs.

Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Burial at a later date.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Strait Richmond Hospital for being so kind and thoughtful which caring for our Dad.
