Elizabeth 'Betty' Ann Langley

Age 89

We are saddened by the loss of Elizabeth (Betty) Langley, who passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 7, 2026, with her granddaughter, Emily Rose, by her side.

Betty was born July 19, 1936 to parents, John and Bessie MacIver (now deceased). She was the last surviving member of her family. 

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Lonnie) Burke, son, James (Shelley) Langley,  grandchildren, Emily (Matt) Tabor, Loni (Tom) Oxford, Nicholas Burke, Ally (Sam) MacMaster, Andie (Mark) Rankin, Riley Winsor, great grandchildren, Scarlett Tabor, Henry Oxford, Jocelyn Oxford, Hugh MacIntyre, Iver MacMaster, Nohr MacMaster, Caoimhe Rankin, Rhodes Rankin, Poppy Rankin, and Edith Rankin. 

Betty is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Emily Morgan and Isabel MacIver, brothers-in-law, Tommy (Marius) Langley and Paul Langley, numerous nieces and nephews, a special family member, Dave Lewis, and her favourite neighbour, Ashley Fox, who she adored.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Jim (Soupbone) Langley, her sister, Mabel Morrison, brothers, Neil MacIver and Richard MacIver, sisters-in-law, Cora MacInnis, Rosie Gillis, Sister Patsy Langley, Sandra Corrigan, and Noreen MacIver, brothers-in-law, Bert Langley, Neil MacInnis, Gerald Morgan, Alex Gillis, and Dennis Corrigan; nieces, Debbie Lewis, Colleen MacIver and Leslie MacIver.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation for the care given to Betty by the home care workers with the Inverness County Home Care Association and to Kyla and Dr. Gillis with the Palliative Care Society. 

At Betty’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Betty loved a visit or a phone call, whether short or long. So, in lieu of flowers and donations, we’re asking you to please take the time and call or visit a loved one in her honour

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Burial will be at a later date. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
