Terry Dale VanHaverbeke “Perkins”, born August 1,1959 in Tillsonburg, Ontario to Oswald “Ozzie” VanHaverbeke and Grace Cecilia (Johnson) VanHaverbeke.

He lived his life both as a servant to God, and the goodness this Earth provides. He was a jolly man with many opinions and vast amount of knowledge and degrees. Preceded in death by his parents, Ozzie October and Grace, uncles and aunts. Survived by his loving wife, Katja VanHaverbeke (Lutz); children, Lance and Taylor VanHaverbeke, friend April Epple; brothers, John (Kim) VanHaverbeke, Larry (Annie deceased 2024) Randy (Linda); nieces, Vanessa (Jeff) Jiggens, Heather (Matt) Kendrick, Lori VanHaverbeke, Lisa (Kurt) Morton; great nieces, Lux and Leia Kendrick, Katie VanHaverbeke, Lily Morton; and great nephew, Luke Morton; brother-in-law, Martin Lutz (Krystle) and sister-in-law, Sonja (Mark); Katja’s children, Angela (Brandon) Legere, Hope (Todd) Wybouw;Pepe to James, Blake, Chase, Laila, Noah and Sage.

Terry built his career as a manager for 40 years. He loved seeking a deeper relationship with God, fishing, hunting, quadding and sledding, ice fishing, studying and collecting herbs, and spending his time with his wife, family and friends in his Hazel Hill home after establishing a Homestead after leaving Ontario. He adored her, his closeness to God and nature that he found here.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be forwarded to Canadian Bible Society, palliative care unit at St Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish or the Eastern Memorial Hospital in Canso.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2:00 pm in Canso United Baptist Church with Rev David Wheeler officiating.
