Dwayne Meagher Obituary

MEAGHER, Leo (Dwayne) – Age 55 of Antigonish passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Born in Antigonish he was the son of Leo and Margie (Wood)  Meagher.


After graduating from carpentry at the Nova Scotia Community College, Dwayne worked for two years in Nova Scotia, before moving to Ottawa where he installed windows. He then worked for the government for 20 years before returning to Nova Scotia where he remained for the last five years. 


Dwayne loved playing cards with his sons and going camping when they were younger. He loved being outdoors and was quite good at making fishing flies. As a pastime some hobbies he enjoyed doing were making driftwood art pieces and taking sunset photos. From the day fishing season opened until closing day, you would find Dwayne with the fishing rod in hand. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and the harmonica. Dwayne was a loving father, son and brother.


Besides his parents, he is survived by his sons, Francis and Jesse, both of Dieppe, NB; siblings, Ricky (Nadine), Magdelene Islands; Darlene (Gerard), Linwood; Bonnie (Dennis), New Glasgow; Tommy (Barbara), Lower Sackville; Scott (Julie), Ottawa; nieces and nephews, Mike, Brent, Daniel, Megan, Jeffrey, Mikayla, Tristan and Jessica; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Danny (Jean), Barbara, Larry (Linda), Vincent (Annie), Bernie (Evelyn), Myrtle (Damien), Helen (Steve) and well as numerous cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, numerous aunts, and uncles.


Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Monday, January 5 in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place, Mulgrave. Funeral Mass will follow at 2 p.m. from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. A reception will follow the funeral mass in the Auld’s Cove Fire Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place or to the Auld’s Cove Fire Dept.
