Maureen Ann (Wedge) Hayter - Age 72 of St. Peter's, NS, passed away in the ICU at the QEII, Halifax, NS, on Friday, December 26, 2025. She passed away as the result of a motor vehicle accident on December 20, 2025, peacefully with her daughter, Shelley Ann (Hayter) Armstrong, Saint John, NB; granddaughter, Desiree Hayter-Thompson, Halifax, NS; and son-in-law, Lauchlin H.A. Armstrong, Saint John, NB, by her bedside.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lewis E. (Aucoin) Wedge and Mary Elizabeth (Samson) Wedge; her siblings, Eric, Allen, James Dennis "Jimmy", Gloria and Rose. She was also predeceased by Benny (A presumed adopted son to the family) and her ex-husband, Bernard James Hayter.
Maureen is survived by her children, Patrick Ianetti (formerly known as Bernard James Jr.), Sydney; John Martell, Halifax, NS and Shelley Ann (Hayter) Armstrong, Saint John, NB; brother, Cletus Wedge, River Bourgeois; sister, Delores Wedge, St. Peter's, NS.
There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Father John Yake officiating. There will be no burial at this time, as Maureen previously requested to be cremated and her wishes have been met.
A Celebration of Life will be held in July 2026, the time, location and date to be announced at a later date, once arrangements for this even are confirmed.
Any donations for final expenses can be made at the Royal Bank, St. Peter's Branch under Maureen Hayter's name. The family ask for no flowers currently and to reserve any flower arrangements for her Celebration of Life in July.
