Annie Mae MacInnis Obituary

Annie Mae (MacAskill) MacInnis

July 1, 1937- December 25, 2025

We regret to announce the passing of Annie Mae MacInnis which occurred peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2025 in Strait Richmond Hospital. Annie, along with her twin Hughie, was born on July 1st, 1937 to Duncan and Flora MacAskill of West Bay Road. One of 10 children, Annie fondly told stories of growing up with her brothers and sisters in West Bay Road.

Annie lived a full life with her husband of 55 years, Eddie MacInnis until his passing in 2012. They loved having visitors at the house and when company was over, Annie would make sure they didn’t leave hungry. She had a natural ability to look after others and worked as a Home Maker for the Town of Port Hawkesbury for years. A proud mother, Annie cherished her Sunday drives to visit Larry in West Bay and her daily drop ins to Linda and Gary’s house. Annie enjoyed family dinner at Tara’s, going out for breakfast with Brent and visiting Hannah at Millers for brunch. She loved seeing Megan and Amber and four-wheeling in West Bay.

Known for her friendly and fun spirit, Annie never missed an opportunity for a get together. She loved playing cards and bingo, and attending concerts, especially her beloved Ceilidhs. Annie was always on the phone, checking in with her siblings and many friends. She looked forward to visits with her close friends, Sandy Williams, Margaret Ashford, Robert MacQuarrrie and Amanda Gray. A Celtic music lover, Annie was one of the original volunteers for Ceilidhs at the Creamery. She baked the best apple pies, loved eating out at restaurants and had a distinct style. Never without earrings or her nails painted, Annie was always on the go. She had an edge to her and would say it as it is. She was one of kind.

Annie is survived by her daughter, Linda MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; son, Larry MacInnis, West Bay; and Bradley MacInnis; grandchildren, Tara (Justin), Brent, Megan (Neil), Amber (Logan), and John; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, and Logan; Brothers, Murdock (Elizabeth), Angus (Pauline); sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Ann MacAskill; brothers-in-law, Alex Hatcher and special brother-in-law, John MacInnis, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Eddie MacInnis; son-in-law, Gary MacDonald; sisters, Julia MacQuarrie, Jane Rodgers, Florence Hatcher, and Catherine Gray; brothers, Duncan John (DJ), twin brother, Hughie, and Dan; brothers-in-law, Donald MacQuarrie, Jimmy Rodgers, Wesley Gray, and Todd MacInnis; sisters-in-law, Alanna MacInnis and Peggy MacInnis.
