Ainslie Kenneth Blue Obituary

Ainslie Kenneth Blue

Age 81

Valley Mills, NS

Passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Dougald and Anna Bell (MacQuarrie) Blue.

After high school graduation Ainslie delivered the local mail as a rural route driver and in later years retired from the Road Maintenance Crew of the Department of Transportation. He was a Founding Member of the Valley Mills Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a First Responder and Captain for many years; spending countless hours at their numerous fundraising events, and making sure that all the equipment was ready for use whenever needed.  Ainslie enjoyed the outdoors - ice fishing, skating, walking in the woods, or out on the river, and collecting sap for maple syrup was never a chore.  Always an avid reader he also took great interest in airplanes and trains, following their changes, improvements or mechanical modifications. Using precise measurements in wood-working whether for a picture frame or his scale models, they were true and correct. Ainslie was also a valued adherent of the Fulton Presbyterian Church in Malagawatch.

Surviving are his sisters, Sadie Fee, Whycocomagh; Eleanor (Leonard) Blue Morrison, River Denys/Truro; Alexandra (Sandra) (Sandy MacLeod) Blue, Iron Mines; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Blue, Valley Mills; nieces, Nancy (Jamie) MacIntyre-Meagher, Elizabeth (Sam Linthorne) Blue; nephews, Cecil Blue; Sheldon (Aimee), Winston and Curtis MacIntyre; Jamie Blue; Duncan MacLeod; five grandnephews, Liam, Noah, Mark, Connor and Kyle; two grandnieces, Hannah and Callie; Aunt, Beverly MacQuarrie.   Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Malcolm and Howard; sisters, Marina MacIntyre and Eleanor in infancy; brothers-in-law, Joey Fee and Gabriel MacIntyre.

Special thanks to the Baddeck Community Nurses who visited him at home, the L’Acabie  drivers who took him to his appointments over the past year and all the doctors, nurses and staff at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service and burial will be held at a later date, which will be posted on the website. Memorial donations to Valley Mills Volunteer Fire Department, the Diabetics Society or charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
