Ronald Ellsworth Horne, age 84, passed away on Monday, December 1 at St. Martha’s Hospital, with family by his side.

Born in Canso, he was the son of the late Ellsworth and Mabel (Snow) Horne. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margie (Munroe) Horne; his daughters, Suzanne (Jim) and Sharon (Chad); sister, Carol and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ellsworth and Mabel Horne; father-in-law, Raymond Munroe; mother-in-law, Kathleen Munroe; brothers-in-law, Dave Boudreau, Michael Munroe and Dale Munroe; sister-in-law, Paulette Richardson and niece, Karen Haines.

Ronnie loved sports, playing hockey and baseball in his younger years. He loved his walks in Little Dover boardwalk with his friends. He was a kind and gentle man who would help anyone in need. He was a dedicated family man.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped Ronnie and family during his illness and passing. Special thank you to Dr. Milburn and Staff of Eastern Memorial Hospital for the care given to Ronnie and to Dr. Baldero, Nurses and R.T. in ICU for their excellent care given to Ronnie; as well as for their kindness given to the family.

Thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers, phone calls, messages, visits to our home, and for the food and monetary donations. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you to all.

Visitation will be held December 5th from 9 – 11 a.m. in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, followed by the Mass and burial in Star of the Sea Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Fire Hall. Donations may be made to Eastern Memorial Palliative Care.
