It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Levi (Sarah Courtney) Gillis (Arseneau). This gentle, empathetic, compassionate soul, who made a meaningful impact through all they achieved, will be truly missed. Starting out living on the Baddeck Bay Rd., the summers were filled with swimming in the lake with the "big red whale" from the May long weekend right through to late Fall. A natural athlete in every sport, she excelled in speed skating, spending countless winter hours at the local arena and rising to compete at a national level. This love was carried into adulthood by volunteering to help with the Special Olympic skaters in Sydney Mines.

At the young age of 14, entrepreneur talents began by starting a lawn mowing business that expanded to 25 customers and 10 years of service. As a young child, the love of baking came naturally and led to a career working for Helen's Bakery/Julia's Bakery. Always eager to learn and help others, Levi returned to school in recent years earning a Community Service Worker certificate and began a rewarding career working at the Breton Ability Centre in Sydney River. Continuing the commitment to touch the lives of others, Levi then trained as a Continuing Care Assistant. After a short career at Alderwood Guest Home, he recently began a new position at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, bringing his warmth and compassion to everyone he cared for.

Levi's love and devotion were boundless and will be remembered by children Leagh and Luke Gillis, the love/existence of his life; Sky, Bella and Ivory, his two dogs and cat that gave him joy and comfort; mother/stepfather, Wendy Breyfogle (Terry Bradley); sister, Abby Burke (Paul Burke); nephew, Marshall Burke; father, Brian Arseneau; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends who were fortunate to know this gentle soul.

Knowing the wishes of Levi, cremation has taken place. A Remembrance Gathering will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Baddeck Curling Club.
