Genevieve Agnes Warner Obituary

In Loving Memory of Genevieve Warner

October 6, 1947 – November 1, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Genevieve Agnes Anne Warner, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.

Born on October 6, 1947, to Roderick and Viola Touesnard. Genevieve lived a life rich with love, laughter, and purpose. She found joy in the simple, beautiful things—tending to her garden, baking fresh bread and rolls for after-school and making the most delicious lemon pies and preserves that will live on in family memory. Her home was filled with the scent of home-cooked meals.

Genevieve had a deep affection for animals and shared her days with dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, turkeys, ducks, pigs, and her beloved cow, Bessie. Her hands were never idle and her heart always full.

Above all, Genevieve was a devoted wife and a deeply loving mother. She shared 56 years of marriage with her husband, Norman Warner, who survives her. Together, they built a home filled with hugs, kisses, and unwavering love.

Genevieve also leaves behind her children: Melody (Derrick Cameron), Chris, Kelly (Donovan MacLennan), and Molly (Jake Bona); seven cherished grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford Touesnard (Anne Louise), Ervin Touesnard (Janice) and Melvin Touesnard (Denise) and many nieces and nephews. Genevieve was predeceased by her sister, Yvonne and her brother, Emile.

Many thanks to her sister-in-law, Paula who visited her many times and comforted her while in hospital. Also thank you to the Continuing Care workers who assisted with her daily needs at home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in River Bourgeois Visitation Parlour, Hwy 4, River Bourgeois. Funeral Mass to honour Genevieve’s life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 15 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Church Point Rd., River Bourgeois, with Father David Rankin officiating. All are welcome to join the family for a reception following the service at the Tara Lynne Community Centre, 15 Recreational Rd., River Bourgeois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to L’Arche Cape Breton or the Palliative Care Unit at the Strait Richmond Hospital, whose care and compassion the family deeply appreciates.

Though she is no longer with us, Genevieve’s spirit will forever bloom in gardens, rise in the scent of fresh baked bread.  She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of Comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
