Joan Elizabeth Hurlburt

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joan Elizabeth Hurlburt. Born and raised in Port Hawkesbury, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Ryan) Pollard.

Mom lived a full life, from travelling, camping, playing softball and cards to finding her in the garden. Mom cooked for most of her life, but to Mom, her most enjoyment was her large family and holidays. Mom will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her sons, Paul (Mary Anette), Wade, Jamie (Diane), Robie (Natlie); daughter, Shelly; sister, Marion; brother, Brian; sister-in-law, Judy; stepchildren, Kevin, Donna, Gail, Debbie; many grand and great- grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews; and her Yarmouth extended family.

Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Ansel; father of her children, Allister; son, Bernard; brothers, Jimmy, Lawrence, Bobby, Greg; sister, Brenda; stepdaughter, Jackie.

The family would like to thank the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home and a special thank you to Debbie MacEachern for the care and compassion shown to Mom.

A graveside service and burial will be held 1:45 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2025 in Southbrook Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. Following the burial, a reception will follow, 2:30 p.m.  in St. Joseph Parish Hall, 138 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury.
