Reverend Donald Edward MacLeod, 91, of Millville, NS, was reunited with his Heavenly Father, October 9, 2025.

Don was a faithful servant of the Lord and his greatest desire was to see his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren love the Lord with all their heart, soul and mind.

He began his career with the CNR, and during those 18 years he met the love of his life Merelyn MacLellan. They were happily married for 61 years.

Don felt the call to go into full time ministry in 1970. He attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, completing his studies at McGill University in Montreal. During his studies at McGill he served as a student at a small church in Inverness, Quebec. Once ordained, he served the pastoral charge of North River, Indian Brook Englishtown and French River. He then moved to the pastoral charge of Tatamagouche, the Falls, Pugwash and Wallace. His final pastoral charge was River Denys, Orangedale and Malagawatch, retiring in 1998.

He was an avid reader, nature lover and carpenter. His favorite spot was the log house he built in Barney's River where he took many walks in the woods with his faithful companion, Springer.

Don was born December 25, 1933. He is survived by his children: Wayne (Diane), Sydney Mines; Donna Burrell, Millville, NS; Darlene (Danny) MacLennan, Millville, NS; Wanda (Glen) Wolstenholme, Sydney; and his brother Cameron, Barney's River, NS; and sister Freda (Mike) Craig, Truro, NS. Grandpa will be missed by his 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Merelyn; brother, Ernie; sister, Vera and son-in-law, Kevin.

The family would like to thank the Caregivers, Doctors and Nurses who showed love and compassion during his battle with dementia.

Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14 in Harbour Light Church, 221 Herbert St., Sydney, NS. The funeral service will be held at Harbour Light Church on October 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Wayne MacLeod and Rev. Rick Barnes officiating. Private family graveside service following in River Denys.
