Theresa 'Michelle' Smeenk

1984 - 2025

We regret to announce the passing of Theresa Michelle Smeenk of Blackfalds, Alberta. Michelle passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the age of 40 years. Michelle was born and raised in Glendale, NS.

She attended school in Port Hawkesbury and later moved to Alberta, where she worked as a waitress and cook and manager in various restaurants.

Michelle will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Billy and Norma (nee Pitre); her brothers, Allan and Norm; her sister, Julia Bernice (nee Smeenk). She was predeceased by her grandparents, William and Wilamena Smeenk, Glendale; Edmond and Claire Pitre, Creignish Rear.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
