It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Muriel Jean Johnston, who left this world peacefully on August 24, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Halifax, NS, on October 5, 1941. Muriel was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant of God.

Muriel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Martin Johnston, her loving brother Grant Donnahee, and her precious granddaughter, Karli Johnston. She is remembered by her children: William, Christina, Marty, Jean, and Jay; by her grandchildren: Amanda, Christopher, Jasmine, Sarah, James, Heather, Jade, and Jacob; and by her great grandchildren Raechel, Mariah, Savannah, Kaleb and River. And by her siblings Roy (Marlene) Donnahee, and Nora (Ross) McConnell.

She was gifted in many ways: a talented knitter, artist, singer, baker, and cook, who brought creativity and comfort into everything she did. She went to Ontario as a small girl and ended up meeting the man she would marry, who was from Cape Breton, when she was at her first job at the bank of Nova Scotia. And came home to retire with him, to St. Peter's NS. Muriel’s deep faith guided her life, and she was a proud woman of God, who was a part of many choirs in the Georgetown Holy Cross church. She was a strong supporter of the prayer groups as well. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her loving husband, and at peace in the eternal kingdom with her Heavenly Father.

A private funeral/memorial service will be held in October to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in her memory.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
