MacLEAN, Neil Hugh – Age 97, Orangedale, Inverness Co., passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Neil was born in Orangedale and was the son of the late Murdock Angus and Sarah (MacDonald) MacLean.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jessie Margaret (MacKinnon) MacLean and also by four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his son, Glen Tracy.

Neil retired in 1988 after working for the Canadian National Railway for 39 years and 1 month. Neil enjoyed a number of things and participated in many community activities and organizations. He was involved with the Orangedale Historical Society, Orangedale Train Station Museum as well as the Orangedale Community Hall and was active at one time as a Volunteer Fireman with the Valley Mills Fire Dept. He was active in all church activities and was involved with three cemetery committees. He enjoyed baseball, hockey, was involved with the Orangedale Rink and was a Scout Leader at one time.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 2 p.m. in Malagawatch Cemetery with Rev. John Tapscott officiating. A reception will follow in the Valley Mills Fire Hall. Donations may be made to the Malagawatch Cemetery or to the Palliative Care of Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
