It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Noel Fredrick Nicholas, born April 13, 1981, in Truro, Nova Scotia, who passed away on August 15, 2025, at the age of 44. Noel was a proud member of Pictou Landing First Nation. He was the beloved son of Harriet Nicholas of We’koqma’q First Nation and Noel Nicholas of Pictou Landing First Nation.

In his life, Noel accomplished much. He was a dedicated lobster and crab fisherman and had a strong interest in entrepreneurship. In his spare time, he enjoyed online gaming, with Call of Duty being his game of choice. Noel also had a deep love for animals, especially his cat, Mooch, who was his constant companion for snuggles.

Noel was known for his unique and infectious laugh that could fill a room and bring joy to those around him.

Noel is survived by his sister, Laura Rae Nicholas; his godmother, Anna (Bellin) Nicholas; his godson, Tobey Googoo; and his nieces, Sonya, Ashlyn, and Nina. He was especially loved by his double first cousins — Eva, Ella, Joe, and Enos — who considered him a sibling.

He is predeceased by his sister, Bernice Marie Nicholas; his niece, Nova Rose Lynn Nicholas; his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Mary Bernard of We’koqma’q; his paternal grandparents, Joseph Patrick and Ella Mae Nicholas of Pictou Landing; his godfather, Harvey Bernard; and his cousin, Raymond Bernard, who was also his double first cousin.

Noel will be deeply loved and missed by his family and many friends.

Wake: The wake will begin on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the We'koqma'q Community Centre, 15 Reservation Road, We’koqma’q.

Funeral Service: A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Kateri Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, We’koqma’q, with Fr. Joby Augustin officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery
