Jessica MacLennan

June 17, 1948 - August 16, 2025

Jessica Elizabeth MacLennan, 77, of Blue’s Mills, Inverness Co., passed away Saturday, Aug.16, 2025 after a long illness.

She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Rebecca (Macdonald) MacLennan of Blue’s Mills and was predeceased by her sister, Cheryl (Rick Casey). Survived by brothers, Clarence (Nancy) and Bill and sister, Elinor Clark (Albert); nieces, Tara (Steve Brass), Janet, and Elise (Rob Frizzell) and nephew, Alex Clark as well as grand-nephews, Thane and Thurston Brass, Justin Alamo-MacLennan and grand-niece, Abigail Frizzell.

Jessica graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University and received a Masters of Library Science from Dalhousie University. Over a long career she worked in almost every kind of library, college, university, school, public etc. interspersed with time out to backpack around Europe, work as an au pair in England and visit ancestral homes in the Hebrides among other pursuits.

Jessica was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the local Gaelic Community, always striving to perfect her own knowledge and pass it on to others and of Forbes United Church taking an active part in ensuring the church would survive where many others have not. To this end she had started to follow the Licensed Lay Worship Leader program of the United Church until the decline in her health forced her to stop.

Her interest in and her support of family and friends will be missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 10 -11 a.m., followed by an OES Service and Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., all in Forbes United Church, 517 Southside River Denys Rd., River Denys. Reception will follow the Celebration of Life in the Blue's Mills Firehall. Interment to follow reception in Margaret Taylor Cemetery, River Denys.
