Meagher, Stanley James – 81, Fort McMurray, AB, formerly of Mulgrave, NS and Murray Corner, NB, passed away July 25, 2025, in Fort McMurray, AB. Born in Poirierville, NS, he was the son of the late Harold and Helen Meagher.

He is survived by his son, David (Lana) Meagher of Dartmouth, NS, daughters Debbie (Gerard) DeCoste, Cheryl (Mark)Thompson, Janine Meagher, and Shelley MacNeil (late Foster MacNeil), all of Fort McMurray, AB. Grandchildren Andrea (Rio), Keegan (Cassandra), Amanda (Marc), Evan (Ashley), Lindsay, Alex (Kyla), Riley (Kiera), Carly, David and Heather. Great-grandchildren: Tiyana, Makayah, Kyree, RJ and Bibby, Clara, Ava and Carter, Weston and Willow, Carter and Ella, Aria, Presley, Marlee and Rizlea. His sisters, Lillian, Angela (Alfred), his brothers, Francis, Leonard (Jeanette) and Wayne. Stepchildren: Natalie, Stephanie, Shelley, Michael, Cory, and Shawn.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Jean; his second wife, Phyllis; sister Annette Baker; brothers Joe, Hughie, Milton, two baby brothers Colin and James in infancy; nephew Jason; nieces Scarlette and Julia; son-in-law Foster MacNeil; and great-granddaughter Navi.

A special thank-you to Rotary House and the friends Dad made during his time there, for their kindness, support, and companionship. We would also like to sincerely thank the nurses and staff at Northern Lights Regional Hospital for their compassionate care during his final days.

Best known as ‘Stan the Man,’ Dad cherished time with his family and especially enjoyed bingo nights, hunting for treasures at yard sales, and his regular outings to his favourite shops. He will be especially missed by his brothers-in-law, Norman and Chuck, with whom he shared a close and special bond.

Dad deeply missed his beloved wife, Phyllis. He often spoke of the simple joys they shared, especially their daily trips to Timmie’s and her famous cabbage rolls. Her memory was always close to his heart.

Dad has taken flight with the eagles—his presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will always soar.

In keeping with Dad’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A graveside service will be held on August 24, 2025 @ 11 a.m. in the Bayfield Cemetery, Bayfield, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory.
