Age 70

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Edith MacDonald, 70, of Mulgrave, Nova Scotia. She passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 in Halifax.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place, Friday, August 15, 2025 from 2 – 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Wesley United Church, Guysborough, on her golden wedding anniversary date, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11a.m., Reverend Heather Manuel will be officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough where her parents rest.

Florence was born in Guysborough to Doris and Harold Taylor on October 23, 1954. She worked as a bank teller with Royal Bank of Canada before shifting to be a full-time mom and homemaker. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards with a big group of friends, shooting pool, and anything to do with turtles. She was involved in volunteering with the Mulgrave Legion for many years.

Florence will be greatly missed by her husband of 50 years, Keith MacDonald, as well as by their two children: Norman MacDonald and his partner Jennifer Shaw, and Shelley (Chris) Drane. They will all make sure that pictures, stories, and memories from Grammy will continue to be shared with her adored grandson, Malcolm Drane. She is survived by siblings Eileen (Rodney) Banks and Russell (Cindy) Taylor along with her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Sharon (Gerald) Chapman.

In lieu of flowers, to honor her memory donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Cambrai Branch 37, Mulgrave or to the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses through VON Canada as well as all hospital staff who provided wonderful care during a difficult time of illness with cancer this year.
