van der PUTTEN (Boorsma), Minke G. – Age 93, Guysborough, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025 in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Minke was born on October 19, 1931, in Gronnigen, Friesland, Holland. 

Minke was a former member of the local Garden Club and well as a Rug Hooking Group. Until recent years she was an active member of St. Ann’s Parish in Guysborough.  

Our mother was devoted to her family. She was an avid walker, an excellent gardener and cook. She would talk to anyone in the community with interest and would laugh her beautiful laugh. She was a true friend to anyone without judgement. She was a beautiful soul, a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife. We will miss her and she will live in our hearts forever.

Surviving are her daughters, Astrid (Troy), Brigitta, Tanya (Ihor); sons, Michael (Cathy) and Olaf (Dianne); remaining sister in Holland, Yoke; grandchildren, Kiara, Sterling (Katlyn), Riley, Marcel, Kyle, Samuel, Niomi; great-grandchildren, Lukas and William. Minke was predeceased by her husband, Henri; son, Marcel; brother, Pete Boorsma and sisters, Cicile and Ricky.

Funeral mass will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, July 18 at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough with Father Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow directly after the burial at Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex, Meeting Room, in Guysborough.  Memorial donations may be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
