We are sad to announce the passing of Roland Edward Sparling, known as Rollie. He died on June 30, 2025, at the age of 89. Rollie was born on January 25, 1936, in Sydney, where he grew up with his parents, George and Gertrude Sparling (nee Wall), and his nine siblings: George, Joan, Korena, Collie, Greg, Johnny, Dolores, Carol-Ann, and Darlene. 

 At 16, Rollie joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and moved to Ontario. He loved airplanes and traveled to many places during his life.

Rollie is survived by his wife, Joan Sparling (nee Gibbins), and his children: Gary Sparling, Shawn Sparling, Glenn Sparling, Kimberley Borisavljevic (nee Sparling), Lisa Prestidge, and Bryan Prestidge. He will be missed for his sense of humor and his joyful laughter. 

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
