Geraldine Margaret Carroll Obituary

GERALDINE MARGARET (MALCOLM) CARROLL

January 7, 1935 – June 23, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Geraldine on Monday, June 23, 2025 at the age of 90 at the Strait Richmond Hospital. Born Jan 7, 1935 in Sunnyside, Richmond County she was the daughter of the late Harold and Bessie (Cummings) Malcolm. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 40 years Wilson, her brother Joseph Malcolm, and her sister and best friend Dorothy Austin. She is survived by her loving sister Anna Martin.

Mom will dearly be missed by her daughter Mary T (Bernie) Malcolm, son Johnny (Ruth) Carroll and daughter Anne (Tyson) McNamara. Her grandchildren who were the world to her Maryanne Malcolm, Shanon (Carrie) Malcolm, Amber (Mikey) Malcolm-Hudson, Colton (Janelle) Carroll, Caitlin (Scott) Read, Jeremey (Kayla) Carroll, Stacey (Chad) McNamara and Danny McNamara as well as her great grandchildren Katie, Xavier, Cambria, Luna, Carly, Paige, Adeline and William. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Mom worked for over 25 years for Bill and Wendy MacRae, who to mom were her extended family and she cherished them dearly. After retiring she worked at the St Francis de Sales Parish as housekeeper. Mom was of strong faith and had an unwavering love of God, she showed this by being an active member of her parish community and a member of the CWL for over 50 years.

Family was everything to mom and she always made sure there was lots of fresh baked bread, cookies, sweets and pie for everyone, no one went home without a bag. She loved sports and watching her children and grandchildren play, she could be heard cheering them on from the stands. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and going to card games. Mom was always there to help anyone in need and care for others, that was her passion.

The family would like to thank the amazing nurses and staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for the wonderful care and comfort they gave to mom for over the past 10 years. Also thank you to the nursing staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital for making her last days peaceful and comfortable.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 2pm-9pm in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
