Kathleen 'Margaret' McNamara

It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen ‘Margaret’ McNamara announces her passing which occurred peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025 in the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Glace Bay, NS on January 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Roderick James “RJ” and Jesse Ellen (MacMaster) MacDonald.

Margaret is survived by her children, Bradley McNamara (Amanda) of Richmond, Virginia, USA and Jody McNamara of Hampton, NB; grandchildren, Taylor and Cameron McNamara; brother, Leo MacDonald (Irene) of Riverside, NS; sisters, Cecilia MacDonald of Sydney, NS, and Jeanette Arsenault of St. Peters, NS; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph McNamara; brothers, Ronald “Rannie” MacDonald and Donald MacDonald; and sister, Marie MacDonald.

Margaret had a long, fulfilling career as a realtor, and will always be remembered for her love and support of her family, especially her kids and grandkids. She loved to travel, enjoyed great food, a good glass of wine, tapping her feet to the Celtic sounds of a ceilidh, and the “occasional” game of bingo. Her smile will be missed by all that knew her.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 3 from 2-4 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, (902-625-1911) 724 Granville St. Port Hawkesbury, NS.  Burial to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whiteside.
