LUMSDEN, Maxine Helen - 77, Canso passed away surrounded by her family at the Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Born in Halifax, NS, she was the daughter of the late Gerald & Marie (Conway) Hynes. Mom/Nanny/Nana always thought of others before herself. Family was so important to her. She was the glue that held us all together. She worked at the Eastern Memorial Hospital as a Dietary Cook. A job she loved and took so much pride in. Making sure everyone enjoyed their meal.

Mom was so loved and will be sadly missed by all, especially Lynette & Kristen who were there for her day in and day out. Her friends Noreen, Geraldine (Gelly) & Marion whom she worked with and became best friends. Aunt Louise whom she loved dearly and was very close to.

When she wasn't cooking a meal for her family, you could find her watching HGTV, Y & R or reading a great Danielle Steel Book.

Survived by her children, Paulette (Frank) Lopez, Brampton, ONT, Darryl (Pauline) Lumsden, Lower South River, NS, Lynette (Gordie) Rhynold, Canso, NS, Geraldine (Stephen) Pedersen, Fort McMurray, AВ; Grandchildren – Kristen (Jermaine), Jeffrey (Rachel), Nicholas (Rachel), Joshua (Leah), Ethan (Emily), Sebastian & Sabrina. We the family of Maxine would like to acknowledge the extraordinary level of care and support that Dr. Milburn, Pam Morrow, Dr. Che & the entire staff at the Eastern Memorial Hospital gave to our mother. They went above and beyond, and for that, the family will forever be grateful.

Memorial Service will be held at the Baptist Church, Canso at 2 pm on Thursday, May 22nd. Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Cremation has taken place. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Eastern Memorial Hospital (Palliative Care Unit) and/or Baptist Church, Canso NS.
