Lolly MacInnis (May 3, 1949 - May 4, 2025)

It is with great sadness that the family of Lolly MacInnis announces her passing on Sunday, May 4, at York Manor in Fredericton, New Brunswick, after a brave battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Lolly is survived by her loving husband of almost 56 years, Neil MacInnis; daughters, Tracey (Kevin) and Aneas (Carl); grandchildren, Leira, Kiana, Riley, Darian (Cameron), Tristan (Karli), Amanda (Spencer) and Alec (Victoria); younger sister, Cheryl Rafuse; sisters-in-law, Barbara LeBlond and Roberta MacInnis-Edmond (Lloyd); brother-in-law, John Wayne MacInnis, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, Lolly was predeceased by her sister, Miriam, brothers, Billy and Jimmy Doyle; brothers-in-law, Leslie MacInnis, Alec MacDonald, Leonard LeBlanc, Mike Rafuse and Joe LeBlond.

Lolly was born in Estaire, Ontario to the late Ellen Patricia Doyle and Oswald Parker Doyle. Having lost her parents at a young age, Lolly moved to Amherst, NS when she was eight years old, to live with her grandparents, Ray and Wavey Webb. At the passing of her grandparents, she moved at the age of 16 to Port Hawkesbury, NS to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Miriam and Leslie MacInnis. It was here where Lolly often said her life really began, where she was able to enjoy being a regular teenager, and where she met the love of her life, who happened to be Leslie’s younger brother, Neil.

Lolly graduated from Cape Breton Business College in Sydney, NS and then went to work at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Port Hawkesbury, where she developed lifelong friendships and married her best friend, Neil. Soon after, they moved to Nackawic, NB where they lived for 25 years. While Lolly primarily found her joy in raising her family, she also had a lengthy career with CIBC and was beloved by friends and colleagues. They remembered her as being the one who “ran the bank”, whenever you needed information or to make something happen, Lolly was the one to go to. Even new managers would pick up on this and defer to Lolly.

Once her children were grown, Lolly transferred to the Queen St. CIBC, and she and Neil moved to Fredericton to start the next chapter of their lives. Here, Lolly made more friends and was respected by her coworkers as someone you could always depend on.

Lolly was shy, quiet and demure, never boisterous. She always conducted herself with respect, grace and etiquette. She was highly intelligent and found a way to weave humor into any situation. “Lol” was her nickname long before it became commonly known as “laugh out loud”, but in fact it is an accurate name for her.  People always had lots of laughs when spending time with Lol.

After retirement, Lolly was able to focus on what she enjoyed most in life – shopping, travel, her much-loved dog, Roxy, and most importantly, her grandchildren. Lolly and Neil embarked on several winter trips to Florida with friends, two tours through Europe, a cruise, and a cross-North America adventure. But more than anything, Lolly loved spending summers at their trailer in Shediac, where her grandchildren have precious memories of fun times with them - whether it was trips to the beach, going to the wharf for ice cream, or simply passing the time indoors on a rainy day.

Lol was well-known for her quick wit and sense-of humor. In more recent years, Lolly enjoyed socializing with her Tuesday coffee club at the condo, where her clever one-liners were truly appreciated. Even as her illness advanced, she was cracking jokes to staff at the hospital and nursing home.

Lolly’s priority in life was family. She was always there for us. Anytime you needed a favor, she would drop everything to help or to babysit; she would self-sacrifice to always put her children and grandchildren first. She was a wonderful listener; anytime you had a problem big or small – she had all the time in the world for you. Lolly will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but especially by her husband and children.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at York Care Centre who cared for Lolly in her final months. Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Thursday, May 8 from 5:00-8:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 9 at 11:00 at Holy Family Catholic Church on Hanwell Rd, with a reception to follow. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Hospice House or York Care Center.
