Please share a memory of Harris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Harris Curtis MacLean, 75 (1950-2025)

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Harris MacLean.

Harris was born on February 17, 1950, in Halifax to Walter (Tex) and Bernice MacLean. He grew up in Gander, Newfoundland, and at 20, he moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, to begin his career with the RCMP. Over his 35-year tenure, he, and his wife Mary, along with their children Nikki and Ryan, lived in various locations across Canada, including Charlottetown, Montague, Calgary and Labrador City, before finally settling in Port Hawkesbury in 1984. His career also included service in a UNPROFOR mission in Croatia and a UN mission in Kosovo.

Harris was deeply passionate about sports, engaging in various roles such as player, coach, manager and even bus driver for minor baseball, minor hockey, high school hockey, and Junior B hockey. He proudly played for the Strait Pirate Old Timers hockey team and the Burns Handymen softball team, often seen in goal or behind the plate. After hanging up his pads and glove, Harris loved cheering on his granddaughters, Delaney, and Falyn, as they played volleyball, softball and soccer, always being their most enthusiastic supporter. Additionally, he spent many days golfing with his buddies in Dundee, reading, crossword puzzles, video games or taking road trips with his wife Mary to visit family.

Harris is survived by the love of his life of 52 years, Mary (Kelly), daughter Nikki (Tim Collins), son Ryan (Kerry Chisholm), Grampy’s girls Delaney Collins and Falyn MacLean. Brother-in-laws, Parnell (Ann), Willard (Debbie), Raymond (Janice), Gerald Kelly, and sisters-in-law Jeanette and Marney as well as many nieces and nephews.

Harris was predeceased by his father. Walter Harris (Tex) MacLean and mother, Bernice (Boone), sister Janice and brother Phillip. Brother-in-law Paul Kelly and sister-in-law Eileen Kelly.
