To Mary, Nikki and Ryan ——our deepest sympathy for your loss of Harris. We spoke every time we met and after asking each how the family was it always turned to hockey and we always seemed to add a bit to the story we told last time we met. Harris took a lot of pride in talking about family and he was very proud of each and every one. A true family man and I was very fortunate to have known him. May you rest in peace bud — I already miss our chats

Where to start…
There are no words that lessen the blow or describe what the loss of this man means.
He was bigger than life, a presence and incredible husband father, grandfather and friend. His love and support for his family was inspiring. He took me in as his son in law and treated me as one of his own. I always looked forward to seeing Harris and talking with him, getting advice, sharing stories (he always had the best stories), hearing that big laugh, watching hockey together and the back-and-forth ribs was always the best and to see how proud he was of his family.
Harris leaving us has left an incredible hole that can never be filled but blessed to have been a part of this man's life.
Harris | Grampy | Dad rest easy now. You will always be in our hearts and minds, and I know you will be watching down on us still looking out for us.
Me and Ryan got your girls, they are so strong.
Love you always, Dad

On Tuesday, February 25th at 2:35pm our hearts shattered into a million little pieces. It's hard to find the right words to describe someone as remarkable as Dad. I witnessed my mother lose her soulmate, my brother lose a father he admired and is increasingly resembling, my husband and sister lose a man who embraced them as family from the very start and they called dad. I saw Grampy's girls experience heartbreak with a maturity that left me in awe. As for me, I will forever be Daddy's little girl, and I aspire to be half the person he was as I grow up. Saturday's celebration will honor the remarkable individual you are. It is not goodbye, it is see you later. Love you forever and always Dad.

Harris was such a great guy, thanks to him I also did a peace keeping tour, though some days I did curse him hahah. He was an excellent Ident member and we had many a great course or workshop together over the 30 years I was in Ident. He will be fondly remembered as a gentleman and a fine member of the R.C.M.P.,,,,Gerry Tucker.

Tuesday was one of the hardest days for Ryan, myself and family. Only time can heal a loss like this. To know him was to love him! My heart goes out to my husband, Nikki and Tim. To my mother in law, you are one of the strongest women I know. We all strive to have a love like you and Harris shared. To the 2 strongest young ladies who never left Grampy's side. Your Aunt Nikki and I could not be prouder moms. You showed a strength that will forever fill our hearts. Love you always Harris.

Rest in peace to my lovely Grandfather Harris MacLean, who never failed to put a smile on my face. Thank you for helping make me the person I am today. I’ll never forget one little thing about you. You were the best grandfather I could ask for and I can’t thank you enough for being the amazing man you were. You were my biggest supporter, and I hope I can be half as amazing as you were. You and Grammy never failed to go out of your way for the hours of driving just to see a few of my soccer tournament games. Good game or bad, Grammy and Grampy always watched contently on the sidelines and had jokes and hugs ready for me right after the game. Grampy always remembered the laughs we shared and would carry on jokes to see a smile on mine and everyone else in our families face. Thank you for the interests you shared with me and taught me to love how you did. I will never forget the countless hours I spent sitting with you on the right side of the couch, taking turns playing PS4. I will miss my calls to you telling you the release dates of new games as they get announced. Thank you for all the times you made the special beef barley soup with Grammy so we could have it as soon as I come home to visit from New Brunswick. Whenever I make someone laugh, I think of you as I find your humor deeply rooted in me and I’m honored to tell people I’m your Granddaughter. One of my final memories of you was you holding my hand in the hospital telling me how proud you are of how well I’m doing, and I promise to always try my hardest for you. It was a pleasure to have you around all the years you were. You may be gone but you are absolutely never forgotten. I will miss my buddy. Love you to the moon and back Grampy.
Long live Harris Maclean

To Harris’s Family,
I want to pass along condolences and prayers on Harris’s passing. I first met Harris when I was stationed at Canso during the early 80’s and our paths crossed on and off through the years. Harris was a professional and would always do his best to uncover results, it was oblivious that Harris enjoyed his work.
Harris was always good for a story and a chuckle, the last time I saw by chance was at the Tim’s in Port Hawkesbury where I stopped on my way to Sydney. We had a great chat, my trip was extended by at least an hour, an hour well spent with a true gentleman. I am thankful for that chance meeting.
Sincerely
Tom & Marilyn Townsend

My sincere condolences to Mary and Family. Harris was one of the good ones. We go back many years both as co-workers and friends. He was a dedicated member of the RCMP who demonstrated the best qualities of what a person should be both professionally and in his personal life. He was very knowledgeable as a Forensic Examiner, mentor to younger members of the Force, and practiced exceptional work ethics. I will always remember his direct sense of humor, his wit and friendship. He will certainly be missed by everyone that he touched in both his personal and professional life.

I met Harris while playing pickup hockey on Fridays at noon at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre. Upon talking to him as a fellow goaltender and getting to know him a little, discovered that we were also neighbours. He had a deep passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs and loved pumping up the goalies for Toronto when we talked goaltending. Harris was a good soul and will be missed by many. I don’t think I even have words to describe how grateful I am to be able to experience life with you as my grandfather. You truly were and are my best friend and that will never change. You were my biggest supporter no matter if it was sports, school or just about anything in life, you always wanted me to succeed and do my best. I knew at the end of the day I’d always end up with a text from you and a call asking me how my day was, if I did good on a test or how my game/tournament had went. No matter how I responded to those questions it didn’t matter because without a doubt in your mind you’d always say I did amazing. Before any game it became routine to wait for your “don’t let the ball hit the floor” text and you never let me down. You supported me through my greatest and toughest times along with yours, making sure you were always there if you could be no matter the time nor distance. You have been the biggest role model to me ever since I was just a little girl and the person I’ve looked up to the most and forever will. Anyone that has had the pleasure of knowing the great Harris Maclean is truly blessed because you are the best gift in everyone’s life. Your smile, laugh, words of wisdom, funny stories and personality will never be forgotten and neither will you. Thank you for everything you have done for me and spoiling me for these past 16 years and I will love and miss you everyday Grampy.

I worked a number of cases with Harris while in the RCMP and he was always very professional.
He was a leader during the Swissair Investigation and highly respected by his peers. Thank you Harris for your service.

Q: How did you meet Harris?
A: Harris and I met through our work with the RCMP, in our volunteer work with Figure Skating, or at an RCMP Hockey Game/Golfing Event. Harris always had time for a nice chat, a few laughs and a bit of teasing.
I always enjoyed when he came to the Office. He was a breath of fresh air in a sometimes-difficult workplace.
Mary & Family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how much family meant to Harris and he wouldn't have wanted to leave you all, but I guess it was him time. Mary, Ryan and Nikki and Family: We were very sad to hear that Harris had passed away. It seems unfair that he is gone when there was so much life left to live, and so much still to give to his family, friends and community. Harris was a unique individual, a man of strong character with a great sense of humour, and with a way of always being able to deliver the frank or candid ‘last’ word. There are so many Harris moments and lines to recall and share, many of them will have us smiling. He certainly had a way of keying in on the important things and was not reluctant to share his opinion. He was authentic. We hope that you will have your special memories to keep you comforted, today, tomorrow and in all the tough days ahead.
