Dear Lorna, Lisa & all Doris’s family:
My sincere sympathy on the loss of your Mom. Sorry I was unable to attend her service. Your Mom never taught me but did my “younger” family members. Will never forget how kind she was to my Mom, Eileen. I always saw your Mom & Dad at Remembrance Day services each year. Thinking & praying for you all, at this time of great loss.

My heartfelt condolences to Lorna, Lisa and family. I loved this lady. She was my Grade 7 homeroom teacher. She cared. She had no favorites. She was a no nonsense type of teacher whom I had great respect for. Now she is home with the Lord and with the love of her life and her family. May her soul rest in peace.

I will hold fond memories of Doris. She completed her early education at Skye Glen school and did het first year of teaching there in what we all knew would be the final year for that school to operate. All the one room schools around were closed as school consolidation came into being in that part of Inverness county. I was one of those in the most senior class grade 8. Students were often happy at recess to see a NS Power truck stopping by the school some days. The teacher seemed very interested in the driver and recess sometimes could be stretched. She was a good teacher and a good person. Sympathy to all her family.

We will always remember Doris. She’s been a part of my life since I was 9. It’ll be a strange world without her there at Thanksgiving and Christmas and summers and so on. But I guess we were lucky to have her for so long. Take comfort in knowing that she touched the lives of a lot of people and lived a good life herself. RIP Grammie.
